American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
On February 17th, 2009, President Obama signed The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The bill supports a number of activities of importance to George Mason University, including significantly increased support for investigator-initiated research programs, as well as support for major instrumentation and research facilities.
Both state and federal agencies have begun posting information on how they plan to allocate funding received under the ARRA, including in some cases how they will monitor and report their actual spending. Below are the current website links.

- VIEW - NIST Recovery Act Measurement Science and Engineering Research Grants Program: Providing the Technology Infrastructure to Address National Priorities 2009-NIST-ARRA-MSE-RESEARCH-01. Proposals will be considered that address measurement science and engineering research needs in areas of national importance. These areas of national importance are energy, environment and climate change, information technology/cybersecurity, biosciences/healthcare, manufacturing, and physical infrastructure. NIST has available up to $35 million to award approximately 20-60 grants.
National Endowment for the Arts

- VIEW - Office for Victims of Crimes FY 2009 Recovery Act (OVC-2009-2123) - National Field-Generated Training, Technical Assistance, and Demonstration Projects provides funding for training, technical assistance, and demonstration projects that (1) are national in scope (defined as relevant and useful to many or most communities and states across the Nation); and either (2) address gaps in the field in the areas of training and technical assistance; or (3) develop promising practices, models, or programs through demonstration projects

- VIEW- Competitive Grant Program - Combating Criminal Narcotics Activity Stemming from the Southern Border of the U.S. (BJA-2009-2115) provides funding in the following categories: combating criminal narcotics activity; enhancing southern border jails and community corrections; facilitating justice information sharing, collaboration, and problem solving; and training and technical assistance
- VIEW- Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Research Grants for Internet Crimes Against Children (OJJDP-2009-2120) provides funding to further the understanding of the scope and prevalence of technology and internet-facilitated crimes against children and to enhance the administration of justice through improved investigation of crime
- VIEW - ICAC Task Force Training and Technical Assistance Grants (OJJDP-2009-2119) provides funding for training programs focused on: (1) Computer Forensics, (2) Prosecution of Child Sexual Exploitation and Technology Facilitated Child Sexual Exploitation Offenses, (3) Specialized Techniques for Investigating Child Sexual Exploitation Offenses (for example, cell phone technologies or file encryption), and (4) Wellness for Law Enforcement and Other Professionals Exposed to Child Exploitation Images at Work.
