George Mason University’s Residents Safety Program is primarily focused on fire and life safety for students living on campus in our residence halls. This effort is made in conjunction with Housing and Residence Life and consists of many educational and fun activities that facilitate fire and life safety awareness and learning.
The Residents Assistant (RA) Fire Academy is one example were RAs gain an understanding of the role of a firefighter, common causes of fire, fundamentals of fire behavior, how to evacuate in a smoke-filled environment, how to put out a small fire with an extinguisher, and elements to consider for residents with disabilities.
